Update on Guy...

They released Guy last night. The last medicine they gave him seems to be helping, but it drops his heart rate too low sometimes. He will be re-admitted to a different hospital for a Catheter Ablation. We are waiting to hear from the specialist today to see when. Probably will be Wednesday or Thursday.

They will insert catheters into the groin and neck and thread up into the heart.
This will allow the doctors to record the electrical activity of his heart and determine what kind of heart rhythm problems he is having, then they can identify the specific areas of heart tissue where the fast heart rate is starting or where the heart is mis-firing. The wires are used to send energy to those areas in the heart, and destroy that tissue. They say destroying these tiny areas can cure the heart rhythm problem. This procedure will take 5 to 6 hours.

The tests have shown that there is some muscle weakness. They are hoping that once the heart rate is corrected, the heart muscle will get stronger. If not, then we will have to deal with that. Right now we are taking it one step at a time.
I am glad to have him home, but nervous at the same time. I felt better when he was being monitored.
Anyway, by the end of the week all of this should be finished and he will be on the road to recovery.
He has to be. Becky is scheduled to have her baby next Monday, so we have to move on to a different patient.
I will let you know when the procedure is scheduled.
Please keep him in your prayers.
love
Mary
