Aunt Mary Nell Update...

Just heard from Weldon that Aunt Mary Nell has been moved from intensive care to intermediate care. This means that she is able to have visitors more often and most of all that she is doing a WHOLE LOT BETTER. She still has a lot of milestones to cross but the outlook is good. It shows that prayer does work.
Her room number is 3376 and she is at the East Texas Medical Center in Tyler Texas. I don't have the actual phone number but you can call information for that. Continue to pray for her and her family as they go through the next few days and weeks. If there is another update I'll let you know.

Guy Update...

Guy came out of the procedure about 8:30pm. The doctor said he feels it went well. They were able to work on the SVTs (fast heart rate) which start in the top part of the heart. That is what was causing the fast beats. He worked on it for about 4 1/2 hours. He could not work on the bottom of the heart (which is what is causing the PVCs) because he was beginning to have problems with his blood pressure getting too low, and in order to correct the PVCs Guy would have had to be under for 5 more hours, and the doctor did not feel like he could tolerate that.
They will watch him tonight and if the heart rate is not corrected they may have to go back in tomorrow, but the doctor feels this should help him, and is hoping he will be able to come home within a day or so. They will probably try different medicines for the PVCs, hoping they will work now that the heart rate seems to be better.

I just spoke to the ICU nurse, and she said Guy is resting. I will be back for visiting at 10:00am tomorrow.
Hopefully he will be ready to come home.
Thanks for the prayers. I will keep in touch.

Guy Update...

Guy had a good day yesterday. His heart rate is finally down, but he is still having the PVCs. The doctors have started him on medicine for that, but it will take about 5 doses before it takes effect. He is still in ICU, but we are hoping he will be able to come home Saturday.
I will let you know.

Update on Guy...

They released Guy last night. The last medicine they gave him seems to be helping, but it drops his heart rate too low sometimes. He will be re-admitted to a different hospital for a Catheter Ablation. We are waiting to hear from the specialist today to see when. Probably will be Wednesday or Thursday.

They will insert catheters into the groin and neck and thread up into the heart.
This will allow the doctors to record the electrical activity of his heart and determine what kind of heart rhythm problems he is having, then they can identify the specific areas of heart tissue where the fast heart rate is starting or where the heart is mis-firing. The wires are used to send energy to those areas in the heart, and destroy that tissue. They say destroying these tiny areas can cure the heart rhythm problem. This procedure will take 5 to 6 hours.

The tests have shown that there is some muscle weakness. They are hoping that once the heart rate is corrected, the heart muscle will get stronger. If not, then we will have to deal with that. Right now we are taking it one step at a time.
I am glad to have him home, but nervous at the same time. I felt better when he was being monitored.
Anyway, by the end of the week all of this should be finished and he will be on the road to recovery.
He has to be. Becky is scheduled to have her baby next Monday, so we have to move on to a different patient.
I will let you know when the procedure is scheduled.
Please keep him in your prayers.
